About weFish

Welcome to the weFish website.

My father took me fishing for the first time when I was 4 years old. We went to Scarbrough Jetty and I caught a bream on a cane rod with a little red and gold spinning reel. From that moment I was the one who was hooked.

I was about 8 or 9 when I fished from a boat for the first time and ever since then, fishing land-based has always been my second choice. Not long after I started work one of the fellows I worked with borrowed his father’s boat and took me offshore for the first time. That was even better.

Since then I have owned several boats with some time ashore for additions to the family and to accommodate work commitments but I have always returned to boating when circumstances permitted.

It took a while but eventually, I decided that it would be fun to make some videos of fishing, boating, boat maintenance, and modification and put them on YouTube. Never having had much interest in photography and even less in doing movies, my initial attempts were less than good, however, I persevered, and while there is still a lot of room for improvement, the quality is now acceptable.

My nebulous thoughts on what I wanted to do on my YouTube channel finally coalesced when I met a couple of blokes over at Moreton Island who had a bad night fishing. At first, they had a lot of difficulties finding the spot they had been told to fish, and then when they did find it they didn’t catch anything. I thought about them for a couple of weeks and decided on my next trip out that I would use my channel to try to help those new to fishing and boating.

And that has eventually led me here. I’m not sure exactly how this is going to unfold but I want to make it into somewhere where like-minded people can offer advice to others. Time will tell how that will pan out but I hope you will join the community for the journey.
